Sunday, June 28th Meeting!

Hi everyone!

This Sunday’s meeting is going to be a free for all hand work meeting! Hooray for mending and stitchery! Bring yourself, a project, some food to share. I don’t know about you but I have a mountain of mending to do. We will have at least one machine on hand – the Brother now in residence at the space – for seam work or anything else we dream up. Instruction sets on hand for making projects of your choice. Fabric, buttons, and zippers for using up and taking home.

May Meeting :: TOMORROW!

This month’s Instructions – Table Cloth Circle Skirt – perfect for summer picnics! (demo will be provided in June)

BRING: Participants are asked to bring garments to mend, alter and remake and sewing problems, which need solutions, materials and food to share and if you have it a sewing machine and a place setting (for the brunchluck – mugs and coffee provided).

WHEN: MAY 17th, 2009; Noon to 4pm; brunchluck noon

WHERE: The Ames Progressive
– located at 118 Hayward Avenue, Suite #3 in Ames, in the same building as The Ark Pet Shop, Domino’s Pizza, Nite Owl Printing and Scallion Korean Restaurant (just go around back, or take the side entrance and follow the hallway)

Instigated by Frau Fiber, textile worker and activist. Frau Fiber and / or regional chapter organizers distribute their knowledge of the garment industry, pattern making and sewing, encouraging the reuse, renovation and recycling of existing garments and textiles in the creation of unique items tailored to individual tastes and body shapes.

Upcoming Meeting – April 26th!

Because of Easter we will not be having a meeting on the Second Sunday of the month, but we will have it on the 4th Sunday of the month.

The Sewing Rebellion is a FREE workshop!

I WANT YOU, to emancipate yourself from the global garment industry by learning the skills to alter, mend and make your own garments!

Encouraging the REUSE,RENOVATION and RECYCLING of existing garments and textiles in the creation of unique items tailored to YOUR taste and body shape.

BRING: garments to mend and alter; sewing problems to solve; or fabric to use, swap, or donate – free patterns on site to utilize and construct
WHEN: Every 2nd Sunday of each month (unless otherwise noted)
TIME: Noon to 4pm
